Love our barrel-rested Old Tom Gin but not exactly sure what kind of cocktails to make? Brimming with botanicals as well as warm, toasty notes from the barrel, this gin is excellent in both spirit-forward drinks and sours alike. Probably the most classic of Old Tom cocktails is the Martinez. The history behind this Martini and Manhattan hybrid is hazy, but what’s important is that it’s delicious and easy to make. And if you’re a Manhattan fan, you should definitely try the How’s the Weather? and Golden Lights. Both these variations breathe new life into the familiar classic. But maybe you’d like to take a different route? We’d recommend trying out a sour (or two) with this gin. For an ultra-simple, but super tasty sour, shake up a Sour Puss cocktail.
Want to jazz up your sour? Try the Farm Cat— muddled basil and egg white add texture and an herbaceous element. Or you could go tropical and check out this take on a Hemingway Daiquiri we call the Cat’s Paw. The grapefruit and lime juice definitely play well with the Old Tom Gin. But perhaps you want to embrace the season? We think you’ll like the Hunker Down. This bright cocktail melds together the unmistakable warming spices of fall and vibrant winter fruits to create a harmonious cold-weather collins. And if you really want to get into the spirit, give the festive Old Saint Nick a whirl. Our house-made Tart Cranberry Syrup combines with Old Tom, lime, and tonic water for a bright cocktail. Plus mint and cranberries make for a very cute garnish. Cheers!
