Grab some fennel at the Farmers Market this weekend and you’re on your way to some delicious cocktails! Fennel simple syrup is super easy to make— just follow these steps.
Coarsely chop two cups fennel bulbs and tops. Avoid the fronds as they are difficult to strain out of the syrup. Next, combine 1.5 cups of sugar and 1.5 cups of hot water in a medium sized bowl. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Add the chopped fennel and let steep for 20 minutes. Strain the fennel out of the syrup and discard. Transfer syrup to a container, label and refrigerate. Syrup will keep for 30 days. Now that you have your syrup made, here are some cocktail ideas! Gin fans, how does a Blood Orange Fennel Fizz sound? It’s colorful and delicious! Citrus and apple naturally complement fennel so you can’t go wrong with our Apples & Oranges cocktail featuring our single barrel Distiller’s Workshop Apple Brandy. If vodka is more your style, you’ll love this minty elixir. Cheers!
