You’ll love this wonderfully fresh and aromatic take on an old fashioned. Combining the aroma of PNW Bartlett pears, vanilla and just a touch of oak, this old fashioned is redefining your favorite stirred cocktail.
- 1 ½ oz New Deal Pear Brandy
- ¾ oz Distiller’s Reserve Wheat Whiskey
- 1 bar spoon 2:1 demerara syrup*
- 2 dashes vanilla bean Angustora bitters**
- 1 cinnamon stick for garnish
Stir all ingredients with ice until well chilled. Strain into an Old Fashioned glass over a large cube and garnish with a cinnamon stick.
*Demerara syrup: combine 2 cups demerara sugar with 1 cup hot water and stir until dissolved. For added flavor, add the peel of one orange to the syrup and let sit overnight. Remove the peel from the syrup in the morning. This syrup will keep for one month.
**Vanilla bean angostura: add 1 bean, split and scraped, into 3 oz of angostura. Let sit for one week prior to use. This infusion only gets better with time so leave the bean in until the tincture is empty.
