We took the classic Blinker cocktail and changed just a few ‘small things’ to give you the Blinker 182. Try to find a yellow grapefruit so the cocktail runs more sour than sweet, but red works too— just adjust your syrup to grapefruit ratio a bit.
- 2 oz Distiller’s Reserve Rye Whiskey
- 1 oz yellow grapefruit juice, freshly squeezed
- ½ oz raspberry syrup*
- 2 dashes orange bitters
- soda water
- 3 raspberries on a cocktail skewer for garnish
Shake rye, grapefruit juice, raspberry syrup, and bitters with ice. Double strain into an old fashioned glass and top with a glug or two of soda water. Garnish with skewered raspberries and enjoy.
*Raspberry syrup: Heat a ½ cup of water on medium heat and stir in 1 cup of sugar until dissolved. Turn heat down to low and add ½ cup of raspberries, stirring until the berries break down into a pulp. Take off the heat and let cool. Fine strain into an airtight container and refrigerate. Will keep for a week— plenty of time to make a Clover Club another day.
