This big-batch freezer recipe elevates the classic Cosmo with a homemade strawberry simple syrup, adding a vibrant hue and fresh berry flavor.
This big-batch recipe is designed to be made in a one-liter (1000ml) bottle. You can start with a 1.75 liter handle of vodka and pour off some for later use. Or, you can start with any empty one-liter bottle. Some examples of common freezer-safe one-liter bottles widely available from various retailers are here, here, or here.
- Portland 90 Vodka, at least 2 ½ cups (20 oz)
- ½ cup strawberry syrup (Make your own or, try this one we love)
- 3/4 cup orange liqueur (Cointreau or Triple Sec)
- 1/2 cup fresh-squeezed lime juice
- Cold water
- lime wheels and/or strawberries, for garnish
If you’re starting with a 1.75 liter handle of vodka, pour off just under 5 cups (or, 39 oz to be precise). If you’re starting with an empty one-liter bottle, pour in 2 ½ cups (20 oz) of vodka. Add the strawberry syrup, orange liqueur, and lime juice to the bottle.
If you started with a full 1.75 liter bottle of vodka, you’ll add ¼ cup cold water and close tightly. If you started with an empty one-liter bottle, top off the bottle with cold water and close tightly. Shake well and place in the freezer for at least 6 hours.
When ready to serve, remove the bottle from the freezer and shake. Pour into chilled martini or coupe glasses. Garnish with a lime wheel and/or a sliced strawberry.
