Invented in the 1940s at the famous Pat O’Brien’s in New Orleans, no Mardi Gras celebration is complete without a Hurricane!
- 2 oz Distiller’s Cut Rum
- 2 oz New Deal Spiced Rum
- 1 oz passion fruit purée*
- 1 oz lime juice
- 1 oz orange juice
- 1/2 oz simple syrup
- 1 tsp grenadine (float)
- orange slice, and/or cherry, for garnish
Shake all ingredients (except the grenadine) with ice for 15 seconds. Strain over fresh ice into a Hurricane glass. Float with grenadine then garnish with an orange slice and/or cherry.
* You can find Pitaya Frozen Passion Fruit at most Fred Meyer stores. Another option is Goya Passion Fruit Pulp available at Mexican or international grocery stores.
