The idea for the Breakfast Martini came to London bartender Salvatore Calabrese after his wife encouraged him to have a piece of toast with orange marmalade one morning. As it turns out, the combination of gin, fresh lemon, orange liqueur, and orange marmalade makes for a tart, bright, delicious cocktail any time of day.
- 1½ oz Portland Dry Gin 33
- ½ oz orange liqueur
- ¾ oz lemon juice, freshly squeezed
- 2 heaping barspoons orange marmalade— we like to use Sebastiano’s Marmellata di Arance found at their cafe in Sellwood
- 1 lemon wheels for garnish
Vigorously shake all ingredients with ice until well chilled. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass and garnish with a lemon. Alternatively, you could garnish this cocktail with a piece of toast spread with orange marmalade.
