two glasses of Spiked Arnold Palmers

Big-Batch Spiked Arnold Palmers

Nothing says summer quite like an Arnold Palmer—but give it the holiday weekend treatment with a boozy twist and you have the perfect sessionable porch sipper, sometimes called a John Daly.

This recipe requires a one-gallon, shakeable container. Some one-gallon containers, widely available from various retailers, are here, or here, here, or here

  • 7 cups sweet tea (use your favorite pre-made sweet tea or, make a double-batch of Steven Smith Exceptional Iced Tea as directed on the package, add ½ cup sugar, stir until fully dissolved and chill)
  • 6 cups lemonade, your favorite brand will do as long as it already contains sugar
  • 3 cups Distiller’s Reserve Bourbon or Portland 90 Vodka, your preference
  • Ice
  • Lemon wheels and/or mint leaves, for garnish

Combine sweet tea, lemonade, and bourbon or vodka in a 1-gallon jug. Seal the jug and carefully swirl to mix the ingredients.  Refrigerate for at least 2 hours if ingredients were already chilled; refrigerate for 6 hours if ingredients were at room temp.

When ready to serve, remove container from fridge and shake gently. Add ice to a glass of your choosing, fill with Spiked Arnold Palmer mix and garnish with a lemon peel and/or mint leaves.
