Bright, citrusy, and just spicy enough to balance the sweetness, these lemon drop martinis are the perfect celebration drink.
This big-batch recipe is designed to be made in a 750ml bottle, which is the most common size used for hard liquor. You can start with a 750ml bottle of vodka and pour off some for later use. Or, you can start with any empty (and cleaned) 750ml liquor bottle.
- Portland 90 Vodka, at least 1 3/4 cups (14 oz)
- 1/2 cup freshly-squeezed lemon juice
- 1/4 cup orange liqueur (Cointreau or Triple Sec)
- 1/4 cup New Deal Ginger Liqueur
- 1/3 cup simple syrup
- cold water
- sugar, for sugared rim
- candied ginger and/or lemon wheel, for garnish
If you’re starting with a full bottle of vodka, pour off just under 1 1/2 cups (or, 11.33 oz to be precise). If you’re starting with an empty 750ml bottle, pour in 1 3/4 cups (14 oz) of vodka. Add the remaining ingredients to the bottle. Top off the bottle with cold water and close tightly. Shake gently and put in the freezer for at least three hours.
Once you’re ready to serve the Ginger Lemon Drops, remove the bottle from the freezer and shake again. Serve in a chilled coupe with a sugared rim. Garnish with a piece of candied ginger and/or a lemon wheel.
