There’s nothing quite like a Spanish Coffee from Huber’s in downtown Portland. While the city’s oldest restaurant didn’t officially invent the drink, they certainly popularized it. Huber’s signature cocktail is absolutely fabulous and is made in a showy table-side display involving open flames. If you’d like to make something similar at home, while avoiding setting 151 proof rum on fire in your kitchen, we have created the following recipe that’s not only safer, but upgrades the quality of the rum.
- 1½ oz New Deal Spiced Rum
- 1 oz New Deal Coffee Liqueur
- ½ oz orange liqueur
- 6 oz coffee
- whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon for garnish
Combine all ingredients in a 12 oz coffee mug and stir to incorporate. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
