This absinthe martini was popularized in the 1940s at Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop, built in 1772 on Bourbon Street. The building–still standing today–is said to be one of the oldest buildings used as a bar in the United States and remains the oldest example of New Orleans’ 18th century French architecture.
